The President further recalled Modi’s recognition by Nigeria through the conferment of the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON), one of the country’s highest national honours, noting that the Indian prime minister had played a significant role in strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations.

According to Tinubu, Modi’s contributions have helped deepen diplomatic, economic and strategic cooperation between Nigeria and India, relations that have continued to expand in areas including trade, investment, technology, healthcare and capacity development.

“On behalf of the Government and people of Nigeria, I wish Prime Minister Modi continued good health, wisdom, and success as he leads India to even greater heights”, the statement added.

Nigeria and India have maintained longstanding diplomatic and economic relations, with India remaining one of Nigeria’s major trading partners and a significant source of investment in sectors ranging from manufacturing and pharmaceuticals to information technology and energy.
