“Who am I without a disguise?”
19 · 05 · 2026
Alessi Rose has shared her new single ‘Skin’.
The alt-pop siren closed out 2025 on a high – following stints on the road alongside Madison Beer and Dua Lipa (separately, mind you!) Alessi then shared her ‘Voyeur’ (Deluxe) EP in full.
Lauded with a place on the BBC Sound Of 2026 long-list, Alessi Rose takes another step forwards with new single ‘Skin’.
Produced and co-written by Adam Yaron (Alex Warren), the lyrical darkness finds Alessi questioning her place in the world – on-the-road ennui can cause self-doubt, and reaches full expression in her new single.
“Think I’m back in the emptiness, wearing somebody else’s skin / Still I try to be whatever you desire,” sings Alessi. “Now they’re turning on all the lights, who am I without a disguise? / I look at me and don’t even recognize her.”
Musically, it contains one of her most potent vocals, a soaring performance which acts as a personal exorcism.
She explains: “This song was written in a period that felt very different for me I have been lucky enough to be locked away in the studio burrowing into the many feelings I have simmering under the surface, many of them remnants of a crazy last year, and I hadn’t realised how much of my OCD-ridden brain was so dependent on the validation of others — people telling me I was doing good and it was all going to be okay.”
“‘Skin’ was the realization that the more you try to be everything that everyone else wants, the less you feel like yourself. Sometimes my skin feels uncomfortable, but I’m learning to exist in it honestly anyway.”
Tune in now.
