Premier League side Fulham have been linked with Super Eagles defender Chibuike Nwaiwu, but they now face stiff competition for his services, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 23-year-old talent recently swapped Austrian club Wolfsberger for Trabzonspor in a €5.5 million deal during the winter transfer window.

Since his arrival in Turkey, his performances have attracted significant interest from top European clubs, including Lazio, Bayer Leverkusen, and Fulham.

The Cottagers reportedly offered Trabzonspor €20 million for the defender last week, but the bid was rejected. The Turkish giants are standing firm, holding out for a fee in excess of €30 million.

Meanwhile, Napoli — under new manager Massimiliano Allegri — are actively seeking defensive reinforcements.

While they have been heavily linked with Lazio’s Mario Gila, negotiations have stalled. Consequently, the Partenopei are exploring alternative options as they look to mount a serious challenge for the Serie A title next season.

According to Futshaber, Nwaiwu has emerged as a top candidate in their search for a new center-back.

Soccer Can Napoli Pry Chibuike Nwaiwu From Trabzonspor and Fulham?

Nwaiwu’s name has appeared on the radar of several clubs in recent months, with Napoli now firmly in the mix.

This interest is hardly surprising. The former Enyimba man brings a complete package to the pitch: composure, pace, technical brilliance, aerial dominance, and tactical versatility—not to mention a knack for the occasional goal.

However, the Partenopei will need to dig deep into their pockets to secure his signature. With Fulham also circling, Trabzonspor remain in a commanding negotiating position, especially with the defender tied to the club for another four years.

Having enjoyed two Scudetto triumphs in the last three seasons, Napoli are clearly in a win-now phase. If the club hierarchy believes Nwaiwu is the missing piece to bolster their trophy charge, they have the financial wherewithal to go all out and get the deal done.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is known for his shrewd negotiation skills, and a deal of this magnitude is definitely well within his reach
