Casemiro wird seine Karriere nach dem Abschied von Manchester United aller Voraussicht nach in der Major League Soccer fortsetzen. Der 34-Jährige hat sich mit Inter Miami mündlich auf ein Engagement verständigt. Das berichtet Fabrizio Romano. Alle formellen Schritte seien auf den Weg gebracht worden, damit die Vertragsunterschrift in Kürze erfolgen kann.

Casemiro stand für Man United 160-mal (26 Tore, 14 Vorlagen) auf dem Platz. Schon im Januar hatte der Routinier seinen Abschied zum Saisonende angekündigt. Der Brasilianer traf in der zurückliegenden Saison als defensiver Mittelfeldspieler neunmal. So torgefährlich war WM-Fahrer noch in keiner Spielzeit seiner Profikarriere.

Bei Inter Miami wird Casemiro – sofern die letzte Hürde genommen ist – unter anderem auf den argentinischen Superstar Lionel Messi (38) treffen. Im Kader steht mit dem von Palmeiras geliehenen Verteidiger Micael (25) bereits ein Brasilianer. Insgesamt sind in der MLS derzeit 36 Landsleute von Casemiro aktiv.
