Is Forza Horizon 6 About To Get Some Competition? Former Director Plots New Racing Game Reveal Next Week

A true maverick, if you will

Is Forza Horizon 6 About To Get Real Competition? Former Director Set To Reveal New 'AAA' Racer

Just over three years ago now, it was revealed that Forza Horizon 5‘s creative director Mike Brown had split off with several other devs to form Maverick Games; a new studio making a “AAA” racing game. And, despite Amazon Games very recently abandoning the project, the team looks set to reveal the title next week.

In a… strange collection of social media posts — and this YouTube countdown featuring a Fiat Multipla of all vehicles — Maverick Games appears to be actively teasing the reveal. We’ll share both the YouTube livestream and the tongue-in-cheek Twitter posts on this down below:

That livestream countdown is ticking down to June 2nd, which is when we’re expecting the game’s trailer to appear, unless the team has something else weird up its sleeve. Rather fittingly, that’s the same day as Sony’s big summer State of Play, so we can probably count this game out in terms of an appearance during the PlayStation show later that day.

Given that Maverick’s split with Amazon was only announced in February, we wonder if this trailer is partly for the fans, and partly to try and attract a new publisher onto the project. Perhaps we’ll know more when we see how far along the game is; hopefully next week with a more exciting trailer than the image shared above. Good one, guys.

Are you excited to see this? Will it be real competition for Forza Horizon 6? Talk to us about it down below.
