Eagles reportedly sign UFL wide receiver

Football

The Philadelphia Eagles are signing United Football League wide receiver Erik Ezukanma (ez-zoo-comma), according to reporting from NFL insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero.

Ezukanma played for the DC Defenders, who lost the United Bowl (the UFL’s Super Bowl) this past weekend. In 12 games this season, the 6’2”, 206 pound wideout logged 30 targets for 19 receptions, 263 receiving yards (13.8 average), and one touchdown. He also had nine rushing attempts result in 76 yards in addition to returning 24 kickoffs for a 26.0 average.

Prior to playing in the UFL, Ezukanma was in the NFL from 2022-2025. He was originally selected by the Miami Dolphins in the fourth-round of the 2022 NFL Draft (No. 125 overall). In Miami, Ezukanma overlapped with former Dolphins offensive quality control coach and current Eagles pass game coordinator Josh Grizzard.

In three seasons with the Fins, Ezukanma only logged 57 snaps on offense and two on special teams. His offensive production was limited to four targets for one reception and three receiving yards … in addition to five rushes for 22 yards. After being cut by Miami, he spent a brief stint with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2025.

It comes as no surprise that the Eagles added to their wide receiver room since they hosted multiple players at that position on a tryout basis during last week’s mandatory minicamp. Ezukanma was not among them since his UFL season was still ongoing but now he’s set to participate in Philly’s training camp that begins in late July. He’s a long shot to stick around for long but he’ll get a chance to make his case.

Pre-draft scouting report via NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein:

Productive three-year starter with desired combination of size and foot quickness. Ezukanma has enough speed to get down the field and challenge coverage while displaying an innate sense for protecting and finishing contested catches underneath. The route tree has been limited by scheme, but he’s not as polished with the routes he runs as he should be for his experience level. Size, ball skills and toughness work in his favor as a quality backup with some upside.
