Apple is about to release iOS 26.5 .1, according to a new report on Apple-focused site MacRumors. The news of iOS 26.5.1’s arrival comes after the website saw the iPhone update on its visitor logs, which have been a reliable indicator of iOS releases in the past.
The news of the iOS 26.5.1 upgrade comes just two weeks after Apple issued iOS 26.5, alongside a bunch of new features, including RCS as well as a long list of security updates. So, what can you expect when Apple releases iOS 26.5.1 in the coming days?

iOS 26.5.1 Could Include Important Security Fixes
When Apple issues smaller iOS updates in close succession, it’s often because the iPhone maker has fixed security holes in its software. For example, the iOS 26.4.2 update fixed a single iPhone bug that could allow law enforcement to read deleted notifications on secure apps such as Signal.
Apple has also started releasing Background Security Improvement updates — standalone security patches that can be applied on the fly if the feature is enabled. And iOS 26.5.1 could be one of these. However, the iPhone maker hasn’t got into the swing of these updates yet, with only one released so far.
It’s also important to note that while Apple gave iPhone users the choice to upgrade to iOS 26 or remain on iOS 18 after fixing a string of bugs that could lead to a major iPhone attack, iOS 26.5 no longer included that choice. While iOS 26.5.1 could come alongside an iOS 18 update, it’s likely this will be for older devices that can’t run iOS 26 only.

Smaller iOS updates such as iOS 26.5 often include minor bug fixes, especially if iPhone users have been complaining, or issues have been preventing them from performing important tasks. While iOS 26.5 has been working fine for me, some Reddit users report bugs, included stutters on the screen.
iOS 26.5.1 Could Arrive Any Minute Now
Apple’s iOS 26.5.1 will pave the way for iOS 26.6, which is included in June as one of the final software releases before iOS 27 is issued this fall. The iOS 26.6 update will contain minimal new features, as Apple gears up to announce its newer software at its Worldwide Developers Conference. Expect to see iOS 26.5.1 this week or next.
