ARISE Founder Introduces Lekeleke Social Media Platform

Prince Nduka Obaigbena is a media mogul in Nigeria. He is the founder of Arise TV. He is the Publisher of ThisDay Newspaper. And he has been at the media business forever.

Recently, he gave birth to a new media product.

Nduka Obaigbena, has officially launched a new social media platform known as LeekeeLekee, as part of efforts to create a digital space tailored to African users.

LeekeeLekee has been described as a fast, mobile-first social media platform and “super app.”

It comes at a time when conversations around data ownership, content control, and fair monetization for creators are gaining momentum across the continent. With many African users heavily dependent on foreign-owned platforms, concerns have continued to grow over how local content is managed, distributed, and monetized.

The platform was developed by ARISE Broadcast and THISDAY Media Group, with a focus on addressing the challenges faced by users in regions with limited internet access. According to the developers, LeekeeLekee offers low-data, high-speed feeds, alongside features such as video sharing, messaging with voice notes, community groups, and built-in content moderation.

Built for African Realities, the platform was created to provide an alternative to global social media platforms, which the developers say often do not fully reflect African culture and realities.

“LekeeLekee is fast, fair, and open, a platform that amplifies voices rather than extracting them,” the statement noted, highlighting its goal of giving users more visibility and control over their content.

Launched in early 2026, LeekeeLekee is positioned as Africa’s homegrown alternative to global platforms such as X, TikTok, and WhatsApp. It is designed to amplify African voices and encourage more authentic digital interactions.

The platform comes with a range of features aimed at improving user experience and engagement:

* Social Networking: Users can share text posts, high-resolution photos, videos, and 24-hour stories.

* Messaging: Offers secure, encrypted one-on-one and group chats, including voice notes.

* Data Efficiency: Built with a low-data mode to support users in areas with limited internet infrastructure.

* Monetization Tools: Provides features that allow creators and businesses to earn directly from their content.

* Content Discovery: Includes a personalized “For You” feed, trending topics, and news discussions.

The name “LekeeLekee” is derived from the Yoruba word lekeleke (cattle egret), symbolizing purity, freedom, and the rise of African stories beyond borders. The creators describe the platform as a “global town square for African expression,” aimed at strengthening the continent’s presence in the global digital space.

LeekeeLekee is currently accessible across multiple platforms:

* Mobile: Available for download on Android and iOS devices

* Web: Accessible through its official website as well as a

With its launch, the platform represents a step toward building a digital ecosystem that reflects African realities while offering users modern social networking tools tailored to their needs.
