Americans Abroad Weekend Rewind: Adams, Trusty, and more

Soccer

AFC Bournemouth will be entering Europe for the first time in club history next season.

Tyler Adams and his Cherries teammates sealed a spot in the UEFA Europa League after earning a 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest on Sunday. Adams started and played 90 minutes in the result, ending his Premier League campaign on a high note in Andoni Iraola’s last match in charge.

Morgan Gibbs-White’s sensational strike propelled the hosts in front before halftime but Bournemouth would rally after the interval to earn a share of the spoils. Marcus Tavernier equalized for the Cherries, giving them a 19th-straight match without defeat in all competitions.

Adams won eight duels, drew one foul, made two interceptions and nine defensive recoveries in the match. The U.S. men’s national team midfielder logged back-to-back 90 minute performances since October 2025, showing his durability for the South Coast club.

Up next for Adams is a trip to the FIFA World Cup with the USMNT, beginning with upcoming friendlies against Senegal and Germany on home soil.

Elsewhere, Lindsey Heaps‘ Lyon career ended in upsetting fashion following a 4-0 loss to Barcelona in the UEFA Women’s Champions League Final. Aidan Morris and Middlesbrough’s quest to reach the Premier League fell short against Hull City. Auston Trusty and Celtic captured the Scottish Cup against Dunfermline Athletic. Marlon Fossey and Standard Liege missed out on Europe for next season following a season finale loss to Sporting Charleroi.
