The Hawks have arrested a 41-year-old man who was allegedly impersonating State Security Agency (SSA) employees in Pretoria.

The man was arrested at the Silver Lakes Estate on Wednesday morning after officers received information about the suspect and that he was in possession of firearms.

Hawks spokesperson Colonel Katlego Mogale said members applied for a search-and-seizure warrant, which was executed on Wednesday morning.

“Initial investigation has revealed that he is purported to be extorting businesses around Pretoria.”

“Upon searching, the Hawks found two appointment cards from the SSA.”

She said investigations continue and once charged, the suspect will appear in court soon.
