Nigerian singer Crayon has spoken openly about a difficult period in his life when he battled mental health challenges, revealing how pressure from both family expectations and the music industry took a toll on him.

During a livestream conversation with Caterefe on Thursday night, the singer explained that 2022 was a particularly overwhelming year as he struggled to balance personal responsibilities with the pressure to succeed in the entertainment industry. According to him, the stress eventually led to his hospitalization, where he underwent a long period of therapy before making a recovery.

After regaining his strength, Crayon returned to music and released hit songs such as “Labalaba” and “Overloading.” He recalled his experience, saying: “In 2022, I had mental health issues from all sorts of stress family pressure, industry pressure, and trying to be number one. I was hospitalised for a long therapy session, then I came out and dropped Labalaba and Overloading.”
