Storylines to watch during Saints rookie minicamp

Football

It feels like the NFL Draft was just yesterday, but somehow, New Orleans Saints football is already back. On May 8th, rookie minicamp will begin, and it should be an exciting one. The Saints just had a successful draft on paper, and the class is larger, finishing with 8 selections. Adding a UDFA group that has some potential gems sprinkled throughout to the entire 2026 draft process, there are going to be storylines coming out of the rookie minicamp that could affect the regular season.

Here are some I am paying attention to or hoping to see:

Football Jordyn Tyson’s health

Throughout the 2026 NFL Draft process, one of the top storylines was top WR Jordyn Tyson’s health. He dealt with injuries during his college career, and this past season, a nagging hamstring issue kept him out for the end of the season and prevented him from participating in some offseason workouts. Teams and analysts around the NFL continued to discuss Tyson’s injury concerns, but in the end, the Saints felt confident in his health, leading them to select him at 8.

Tyson’s talent is exciting, and it will be fun to see what he can do during the rookie minicamp, but more importantly, he needs to finish the two-day period healthy. If Tyson can participate and stay on the field, that is a small but important win.

Football What UDFAs begin to seperate themseleves for the pack

As I mentioned earlier, the Saints UDFA class has some potential. DT Zxavian Harris, DE Michael Heldman, and OT Alan Herron are just a few of the names that stand out, and if any (or all) can shine during the rookie minicamp, it can go a long way for the team.

If at least one UDFA can prove that they deserve a spot on the final 53-man roster, it can create some more exciting position battles throughout the Summer and preseason.
