Not many products will last the test of time for a beauty editor, but these are the ones that keep coming back to my routine time and time again

Working as a beauty editor means you don’t often get the luxury of staying loyal to certain products – there are always exciting new products to trial, cutting-edge technology to explore and cool new releases vying for your attention, making it tough to remain faithful to any single item for long.

That said, there are certain products I find myself reaching for time and time again. Some tackle specific concerns that nothing else quite manages, while others serve as my benchmark, reminding me what standard new arrivals need to match. At the moment, I’m delighted to spot not one but FOUR of my absolute favourite beauty essentials in the Sephora sale, each slashed by over 20% from their usual price. Benefit They’re Real! Lengthening and Volumizing Mascara

Usually: £28

Mascara is my absolute obsession and I reckon I’ve sampled virtually every one available. This is what I measure all others against, and when it’s my own cash on the line, it’s the only one I’ll purchase. I adore how They’re Real! delivers on its promise – it plumps up and extends my lashes like nothing else can. It’s buildable (provided you’re swift) and I can continue layering to elongate my lashes further and further until they genuinely resemble falsies. What makes it stand out is how the bristles extend over the brush tip, allowing you to rotate the wand vertically and reach those tricky tiny lashes nestled in the corner of your eyes.

Weleda Skin Food Moisturiser – Rich Intensive Skin Care for Dry Skin

This is my go-to handbag moisturiser. I like having it with me while on the move – a travel essential. It’s under 100ml if you’re jetting off from airports that still enforce that restriction, and it’s wonderful to smooth on when your complexion feels parched, for an immediate boost. Beyond that, it’s a brilliant emergency treatment – I’ve slathered it on coarse skin (particularly my elbows), unexpected rashes or irritated bumps I sometimes get on my hands, patted over foundation that’s beginning to look cakey, beneath makeup when my face feels lacklustre. I’ve even used it on my husband’s eczema, on my mate’s little girl after excessive sun exposure… truly, it’s a daily lifesaver that works for everyone.

Lancôme Bi-Facil Makeup Remover

Normally: £28

NOW: £21.95

If you know, you know. Few makeup removers work as brilliantly as this one and frequently they leave my lids feeling red and raw. Not this dual-phase formula, which features two layers that blend when you give it a shake, delivering a lightweight, nourished sensation afterwards. Unlike certain bi-phases which deposit what feels like a thick, greasy residue, this simply feels silky and clean. In truth, the sole drawback of this product is the rather jaw-dropping cost, so with this price cut it’s nearly flawless.

Kerastase Gloss Absolu Hydra-Illuminating Shampoo 500ml

Normally: £52

NOW: £39

This was amongst the first products that demonstrated to me how a quality shampoo can truly transform your hair. While any shampoo will cleanse your locks and leave them looking presentable, a superior one can render them more manageable, frizz-free, shinier and better controlled. This is their large-sized bottle (the sole option available) and it’s refillable as well. However, the issue with this deal is that I cannot (or will not…) use a mismatched shampoo and conditioner pairing. It spoils the whole hair wash for me. And the corresponding shampoo isn’t included in this promotion. Sephora, this is unkind . Nevertheless, it’s such a competitive price that I’d buy this and then store it in my cupboard until I discover the matching conditioner on offer elsewhere, such as here at Boots.
