Records are made to be broken

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is comfortably one of the most anticipated movies of the year, and here’s the proof.
The sequel to the $2 billion No Way Home totted up over 718 million views in 24 hours on YouTube, destroying GTA 6’s record of 475 million views in 24 hours.
Even the PlayStation mirror, which includes promotion for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on the PS5, is already among the platform holder’s most viewed videos ever.
Sony Pictures did attract some criticism for the rollout of the video, which it teased with a series of two-second clips over the course of the past week.
But it’s done little to dampen enthusiasm, as superhero fans pour over every frame ahead of the film’s 31st July release date.
The movie itself does look brilliant: it follows directly after the events of No Way Home, and depicts a mopey, miserable Peter Parker finding his way in a New York City that no longer remembers him.
The trailer includes hints at Jon Bernthal’s The Punisher and Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner, while Stranger Things star Sadie Sink is strongly rumoured to feature as Jean Grey.
It’ll be interesting to see how PlayStation further piggyback’s off the success of the film, because PS5 has become the home of Marvel games over the past few years.
