Former President of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria (NICN), Justice Babatunde Adejumo and the Commissioner of Police in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Miller Dantawaye have called for more support for security agencies in the face of growing security challenges in the country.
Justice Adejumo, who is the Administrator of the National Judicial Institute (NJC) and Dantawaye spoke in Abuja while commissioning facilities built and handed to the police for use by the NJI.
The facilities, located within the NJI premises, include a police post and 36 well furnished self-contained apartments to be occupied by police personnel drafted to work in the police post.
Justice Adejumo emphasized the need for citizens to always appreciate the efforts of security agencies and support them to enable them to do more.
The NJI Administrator said the need for the facilities was to ensure a conducive work environment for the security personnel posted to the institute and to improve security of lives and property in and around the organisation.
Justice Adejumo said: “The institute is on a land measuring about 3.5-kilometer radius, has a staff strength of about 481 and 900 of its staff and their family members living within.
“With a strategic mandate that annually allows the influx of over 1,500 judicial officers and their support staff into the Institute, the NJI stands as a fully functional institution, fitted with numerous facilities and amenities.

“These facilities, which includes on-site staff housing, hostels and guest suites, banquet halls, recreational and sporting facilities, and a state-of-the art auditorium among others, have all been put in place to foster a conducive learning environment, and to cater to the well-being of judicial officers, their support Staff, and those in the Institute’s employ.
“Consequently, the continued protection of lives and properties within the institute is of paramount concern and importance. The foregoing consideration invariably informed the joint decision of the NJI and the Nigerian Police Force to strive for the creation of a police post within the precinct of the institute,” Justice Adejumo said.
He assured that the police post will be well equipped with all necessary facilities.
Dantawaye hailed the NJI’s management for the initiative and described it as “a momentous milestone in our collective pursuit of safety.”
He ssured that necessary steps would be taken to ensure the deployment of men of the Police Mobile Force as requested by the Administrator.
While urging the institute’s staff to cooperate with police personnel to be deployed to the new facilities, he advised the security agents to always act responsibly and be compassionate in relating with people in the environment.
