Arsenal have lost consecutive domestic games, putting their chances of winning the English Premier League title in jeopardy, and a former Super Eagles midfielder has weighed in on the winless run of Mikel Arteta’s men, Soccernet.ng reports.

John Ogu played 25 games for the three-time AFCON Champions between 2013 and 2019, claiming a bronze medal in Egypt seven years ago.

Arsenal lost the Carabao Cup final to Manchester City last month and were knocked out of the FA Cup by Southampton before losing to Bournemouth in the English Premier League.

Soccer John Ogu explains Arsenal’s slip-up in Premier League title race

The loss to Bournemouth cut Arsenal’s lead at the top of the English top-flight to six points, although Manchester City still have a game in hand, giving them a chance to go level on points with Mikel Arteta’s men.

Ogu, a die-hard Arsenal fan, described the problem of constantly surrendering leads as psychological, citing his successful time in Israel as an example.

“I’ve been playing for almost 20 years. I’ll tell you it has to do with mentality, because after every game, they watch their matches, and analyse where they can do better,” the 37-year-old said on the Home Turf Podcast.

“When I was in Israel, we won titles for three years straight, and the coach would ask us what we could’ve done better.

“Everyone wants to win. I’m a big Arsenal fan. they’ve been in my life for so long.

“We lost to Manchester City and Southampton, but I’ll tell you no football player is happy to lose,” John Ogu concluded.

Arsenal are currently six points clear at the top of the summit, but that could change quickly if they lose to Manchester City.
