Sevilla head coach Luis Garcia was in awe of a Super Eagles attacker in his side’s 2-1 win over Atletico Madrid at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán on Saturday, Soccernet.ng reports.
The clash was a must-win for Los Rojiblancos, as they were on a run of five games without a victory, and in 17th place on the La Liga table, just above the relegation spots.
After the loss against Real Oviedo, masked fans waited for the Sevilla players at the training ground to air their grievances about the club’s poor form, causing the players to improve against Atletico Madrid.
While Diego Simeone benched his entire starting lineup, bar Juan Musso, from the mid-week UEFA Champions League win against Barcelona, Sevilla took advantage to claim all three points.

Soccer Sevilla: Luis Garcia wowed by Ademola Lookman’s performance
Akor Adams broke the deadlock inside ten minutes, tucking away his spot-kick brilliantly to put Sevilla ahead. Javier Bonar levelled the scores for Atletico in the 35th minute before Nemanja Gudelj put Sevilla up again just before half-time.
Simeone introduced Ademola Lookman in the 71st minute, and the Super Eagles attacker sparked life into a dormant Atletico attack, a sequence Garcia took note of.
“The second half, for me, was perfect. I don’t remember any chance from them, bar Lookman’s last, which we’ve been a little open. We have made a tactical change that has gone very well for us, the players have interpreted it very well,” the 53-year-old said in quotes relayed by Marca.

“After the goal, we took a step back that I don’t want us to. In their goal they take us out on the flank and we have to go out fast to press.
“That’s where it cost us, and it’s a little bit of the fear we have. Even me, when Lookman came on, I almost sh*t myself alive. I liked the team that after the game went level, we took another step forward again,” the former Getafe coach concluded.
In Lookman’s 19 minutes on the pitch, he came close to scoring once, but his attempt from the edge of the box went just wide.

Sevilla’s win against Atletico Madrid moved them into 16th on the La Liga table, although they’re still just two points above the relegation zone.
