Basketball Top contenders and latest intel on the top transfers on the opening day of the transfer portal.

The 2026 college basketball transfer portal is officially open. On Monday, only 160+ players had already entered the portal, but just hours after it officially opened – more than 800 players are now on the market.

For the last few weeks, roughly 1,000 players announced their intentions to enter the portal, which allowed schools to strategize and agents to calculate who the top contenders for their clients would be.

The transfer portal will only remain open for the next 14 days. It closes on Tuesday, April 21.

After it closes, players can no longer enter, but they will still be able to take visits and make commitments.

If there are coaching changes, players will still be under the 30-day window to enter the portal and will be permitted to enter after April 21 if their 30-day window expands beyond.
