Nigeria international Alex Iwobi is preparing to take a bold step away from the football pitch and into the music spotlight, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Fulham playmaker has announced that his debut EP, More To Life, will be released on April 9, 2026 as he continues to grow his influence beyond the game.
Iwobi, who performs under the name ’17’, is not entirely new to music. But this is the first time the Super Eagles midfielder is putting together a full project. The EP is expected to feature eight tracks, blending Afrobeats and Afrowave sounds inspired by his Nigerian roots.
The lead single, Track 0 (Freestyle), has already given fans a glimpse into what to expect: a relaxed but confident style, built around self-expression and creativity. At its core, the project explores a simple message that life is bigger than football.
Alex Iwobi has often spoken about how music helps him switch off from the demands of professional sport. In a career where pressure is constant, this new path offers him a different way to express himself. He is also making history in the process, becoming the first active Premier League player to release a full music project under his own identity.
The EP includes a strong list of collaborators. Among them is rising Nigerian star Fido, known for his hit Joy Is Coming. There is also ’24AM’, the music alias of fellow Premier League player Amadou Onana. Other contributors such as Teniola Time, Giddi, P17, 4AM and SPKS add variety to what promises to be a rich and diverse sound.
Iwobi has always maintained that his music is not a distraction from football but an extension of who he is. The former Arsenal man embraces his life as a footballer but also as a creative personality with interests beyond the pitch.

While Alex Iwobi explores music, his football journey remains just as impressive. From his early days at Arsenal to his current role at Fulham, he has grown into one of Nigeria’s most reliable players in England.
He joined Arsenal’s academy at the age of eight and made his senior debut in 2015 under Arsène Wenger. Known for his calmness on the ball and ability to link play, he quickly became a regular in the team. He was part of the squad that won the FA Cup in 2017 and even scored in the 2019 Europa League final.
A move to Everton in 2019 brought new challenges. Initially, he struggled to find his best position. But under managers like Frank Lampard, he was reshaped into a hardworking central midfielder. His energy and consistency were key in helping Everton avoid relegation, and he was voted the club’s Players’ Player of the Season in 2022–23.
Since joining Fulham, Iwobi has taken another step forward. Reunited with Marco Silva, he has added goals to his game while maintaining his work rate. By March 2026, he had passed 300 Premier League appearances, a landmark achievement that places him among Nigeria’s most enduring players in the competition.
On the international stage, Iwobi has also been a key figure for Nigeria. After switching allegiance from England, he made his debut for the Super Eagles in 2015. One of his most memorable moments came when he scored the goal that secured Nigeria’s place at the 2018 World Cup. He has since gone on to win multiple Africa Cup of Nations medals and is closing in on 100 international caps.
