Soccer Bruno Onyemaechi: Super Eagles star welcomes first child with Portuguese partner

Super Eagles defender Bruno Onyemaechi has announced the birth of his first child with his Portuguese partner, Ines Fontes, Soccernet.ng reports.

Onyemaechi and Fontes have been in a relationship since 2022, and she has been a consistent and proud supporter of the Super Eagles star.

They have been together since his days at Boavista, and she has been regularly spotted cheering on her 26-year-old partner at games.

At the start of March, the Portuguese content creator began sharing pictures of her baby bump alongside Onyemaechi to announce that they were expectant.

On Saturday, she finally gave birth, sharing photos of herself and Onyemaechi at the hospital to mark the occasion.

The Super Eagles star later reposted a picture of himself holding the newborn, captioning it, “Best gift ever.”

As of press time, the gender of the child has not been confirmed, but this is Onyemaechi’s first baby, and his social media posts show the defender is clearly overjoyed.

Bruno Onyemaechi Might Miss Jordan Game

With the arrival of his baby, it is now clear that Bruno Onyemaechi left the Super Eagles camp to join his partner at the hospital.

Recall that Soccernet.ng reported he was conspicuously absent from Nigeria’s first training session following the win over Iran.

The photos of him and his partner at the hospital have now confirmed those suspicions.

However, it remains unknown if he will return to the Super Eagles camp for the upcoming game against Jordan.

Typically, players are granted a few days off to be with their partners following the birth of a child, making it unlikely that he will feature in the Jordan fixture.

Nevertheless, coach Eric Chelle has decent cover at left-back, as Zaidu Sanusi is fit and ready to go.

While he might not provide the same defensive solidity that Onyemaechi offers, Sanusi has enough quality to do a professional job in his absence.
