After the international break, Paul Onuachu returns to club duty with a point to prove, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Trabzonspor striker heads into one of the biggest fixtures of the Turkish season still searching for his first goal against Galatasaray.

It is an unusual gap in what has otherwise been a prolific campaign. Onuachu leads the Süper Lig scoring chart with 21 goals in 24 matches and has been one of the most consistent forwards in the division. But against Galatasaray, he has so far drawn a blank.

His only meeting with the Istanbul side ended in a goalless draw, with the Nigerian kept quiet despite his growing reputation as a reliable finisher. For a striker who has scored against most opponents he has faced this season, it remains a small but notable omission.

That could change when Trabzonspor host their title rivals on April 4.The game carries weight beyond personal milestones, with both sides chasing important points in the closing stretch of the season.

Onuachu arrives in strong form, having scored regularly in recent weeks. His presence gives Trabzonspor a focal point in attack, particularly at home, where they will expect to take the initiative.

There is also a shift in focus ahead of the match. Galatasaray will be without Victor Osimhen, who is sidelined after surgery, removing one of the league’s most dangerous forwards from the contest.

Soccer Paul Onuachu: A central figure in Trabzonspor’s season

Beyond this fixture, Paul Onuachu’s influence on Trabzonspor’s campaign has been clear. Since arriving at the club, he has developed into their main attacking outlet, combining physical presence with consistent finishing.

His 21 league goals this season underline that impact, but his broader record is equally strong. Across his spells with the club, he has scored 40 goals in all competitions, offering a steady return in front of goal.

At just over two metres tall, he provides a clear target in the penalty area. Crosses and set-pieces are a key part of Trabzonspor’s approach, and Onuachu’s ability in the air makes him difficult to contain. Defenders often need extra support to deal with him, particularly when balls are delivered into the box.

He has not carried the attacking burden alone. Teammates such as Augusto and Muçi have also contributed, helping Trabzonspor maintain one of the more productive forward lines in the league. Still, Onuachu remains the reference point around which their attack is built.

There is a telling pattern to his goalscoring as well. Trabzonspor have not lost a match in which he has scored this season, a clear evidence of the direct link between his output and the team’s results.

With Osimhen absent, the spotlight naturally shifts. It hands Onuachu both the responsibility and opportunity to maintain his scoring form and, perhaps, settle unfinished business against arguably the league’s strongest side.
