Depot After Dark: Najee Harris Working, Ireland Flag Football, Steelers Student Summit

Football

A Steelers Depot daily segment. A quick hit of some Pittsburgh Steelers-related stories that may not require a complete article but nuggets worth mentioning and passing on to you guys.

Your Depot After Dark for March 23.

NAJEE HARRIS WORKING

Najee Harris was the Steelers’ first-round pick in 2021, and he spent four seasons there. Harris was a good player, rushing for over 1,000 yards each year and never missing a game, but he wasn’t a big playmaker, so the Steelers let him walk in 2025. He signed a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Chargers, but it didn’t go well, as Harris played only three games due to injuries.

Specifically, Harris tore his Achilles tendon, which is one of the worst injuries a player can suffer. It’s hard to bounce back from, but Harris is working hard. Doug Hendrickson posted a video on Twitter showing Harris running on a treadmill. He’s still a free agent, but it looks like he’s recovering well. Hopefully, he lands with a team for this upcoming season.

IRELAND FLAG FOOTBALL

The Steelers made history playing in the NFL’s first regular-season game in Ireland last year. They won the game, beating the Minnesota Vikings. Also, it meant more because of the Rooney family’s connections to Ireland. It was one of Dan Rooney’s greatest wishes before he passed away.

Even though the Steelers accomplished that goal, they aren’t done working in Ireland. Steelers Ireland shared on Twitter that the Steelers recently held a children’s flag football event in the country. Former Steelers safety Will Allen was also in attendance, helping everyone enjoy the game. It shows just how committed the Steelers are to bringing football to Ireland.

The first-ever Steelers Flag Football Tournament on the isle kicked off this morning 🏆

Will Allen joined the boys and girls for a day full of skill, teamwork, and energy.

STEELERS STUDENT SUMMIT

With the offseason here, players have some time off from football. However, NFL teams are made up of more than just players. There are many members of organizations that help make things go.

The Steelers recently took time to give young minds a glimpse into what working in sports is like, hosting the Steelers Student Summit, as shared by team writer Teresa Varley on Twitter. The event included students from 160 schools, 40 states, and three foreign countries. Perhaps some of them will one day work in the NFL.

The Steelers Student Summit provided college students and recent graduates an inside look into working in sports, and included students from 160 schools, 40 states and 3 foreign countries, with in-person and virtual participants.
