Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Rob Edwards has lauded Tolu Arokodare’s contribution following his side’s 2-2 draw against Brentford on Monday, Soccernet.ng reports.
Arokodare began the match on the bench as Wolves traveled to the Community Stadium. Heading into the tie, Wolves were considered the underdogs due to their precarious position in the Premier League table and Brentford’s formidable home advantage.
The match started poorly for the visitors; by the 37th minute, Wolves were already trailing by two goals following strikes from Michael Kayode and Igor Thiago.
However, a superb long-range effort from Armstrong in the 44th minute handed the Wanderers a vital lifeline just before the break.
Arokodare, who was dropped to the bench after starting in the recent 3-1 defeat to Liverpool, was introduced in the 74th minute with Wolves desperately chasing an equalizer.
It took the 25-year-old just three minutes to deliver, turning up clutch to level the score. He nearly secured a dramatic winner in the 79th minute, but his header rattled the upright, forcing both sides to settle for a point.

Claiming a comeback draw away at a high-flying Brentford side is a positive result for Wolves. After the final whistle, a satisfied Rob Edwards highlighted the decisive role played by his substitutes.
”I thought all the subs came on and affected the game really well—Tolu got his goal; Angel and Rodrigo, I thought they all had an effect,” Edwards stated.
Despite his goal-scoring heroics, Arokodare faces an uphill battle to reclaim a regular starting spot.
Armstrong’s recent form has been impressive, and it is expected that Edwards will continue to favor him in the starting lineup.
Nonetheless, with the international break approaching, Arokodare will be hoping his impact off the bench is enough to earn him a place in Eric Chelle’s latest Super Eagles squad.
