The family of late South African musician Sinesipho Peter, popularly known as Bravo Le Roux, has confirmed the cause of his death in a letter addressed to the South African government.

Bravo Le Roux passed away in Switzerland on Thursday, 22 January 2026, at the age of 30.

News of his death was shared a day later through a statement posted on his Instagram page, sending shockwaves through the local music industry and among fans across the country.

In the days following his passing, South Africans rallied behind the artist’s family, donating money to assist with the repatriation of his body.

His wife, Sabrina Peter, known professionally as DJ Sab, launched a GoFundMe campaign after it emerged that the family was facing a funeral and repatriation bill reportedly amounting to R500,000.

According to a report by Daily Sun, Peter family has now disclosed the cause of death.

The publication reports that a letter written by the family’s spokesperson, Gcobani Ndzongana, confirms that the musician died by suicide.

It reads in part: “I am writing on behalf of the Peter family to kindly request your intervention in the repatriation of the body of their son @bravoleroux, who tragically committed suicide in Switzerland.”

The letter was reportedly directed to Dirco spokesperson Clayson Monyela, as the family sought urgent support to bring the late artist’s remains back to South Africa.
