Pac-12 releases football schedule ahead of Texas State's conference debut

Football

With the Pac-12 releasing its full football schedule Wednesday night, Texas State fans will have to adjust to West Coast times.

In the Bobcats’ first season away from the Sun Belt, they’ll play three conference away games, opening against San Diego State on Oct. 3 before heading into a bye week. Other away matchups include Boise State on Oct. 17 and Oregon State on Nov. 7. Texas State’s last conference game comes against Washington State, but each Pac-12 team’s schedule includes a flex game at the end of the year.

Texas State’s flex matchup is currently a road game against Colorado State, which could change up to six days before the game.

The Bobcats will open the season against the Texas Longhorns at Royal-Memorial Stadium. The rest of their nonconference slate will include three straight home matchups against UTSA, North Texas and Incarnate Word.

The Pac-12 lost 10 of its 12 members in the last round of conference realignment, with Oregon State and Washington State the remaining members. Boise State, San Diego State, Fresno State and Colorado State were the first to join the conference as replacements, with Utah State being the seventh.

The Bobcats accepted an invitation to join the conference in July, becoming the eighth football team and qualifying the Pac-12 as an official Football Bowl Subdivision conference.

Although Texas State’s 7-6 record in 2025 fell short of expectations, the Bobcats are set up well for their Pac-12 debut. Quarterback Brad Jackson, wide receivers Chris Dawn Jr. and Beau Sparks, running backs Greg Burrell and Jaylen Jenkins and safety Ryan Nolan all opted to stay. Sparks, Dawn and Jackson make up a passing attack that produced two 1,000-yard wideouts, and Burrell’s withdrawal from the portal sets him up for a career year.
