Axel Disasi could be on his way out of Chelsea following key Liam Rosenior stance

Axel Disasi’s time at Chelsea has mostly been spent on the fringes of the squad, but that situation could be about to change.

Shortly after taking over as manager, Enzo Maresca made the call to separate several players from the main group, aiming to work with a tighter squad of around 21-25. It was a controversial decision, but you have to respect his honesty.

Raheem Sterling, Axel Disasi, and Ben Chilwell were among those moved aside in what became known as Chelsea’s “bomb squad”.

Chilwell eventually moved on to Strasbourg while both Disasi and Sterling are still searching for new clubs this month after nearly two years out of the picture.

Liam Rosenior did say he planned to speak with Disasi and Sterling, but it is not clear if those conversations have taken place yet.

Axel Disasi did himself no favours with his recent showing for Chelsea’s Under-21s, struggling in a heavy 6-2 defeat to Benfica.

But despite that performance, interest in him has not gone away.

Speaking on a live stream for X (formerly known as Twitter), Ben Jacobs noted that both Roma and Lyon have shown interest in the centre-back.

“You have Axel Disasi, a centre-back at Chelsea, who is available, and Saudi clubs plus Roma and Lyon have made inquiries. Raheem Sterling as well, but I’m told he doesn’t want to move to Saudi Arabia or MLS.”

Chelsea’s situation at centre-back

Chelsea currently have Wesley Fofana, Tosin Adarabioyo, Trevoh Chalobah and Levi Colwill as their primary options in the heart of defence.

But with Colwill unlikely to return before the season ends, the club has been forced to look elsewhere.

With that in mind, Jeremy Jacquet has emerged as a potential target for Chelsea.

Reports suggest that Jacquet has already agreed personal terms with the club.
