US YouTuber and content creator Salah Brooks has posted a video about her experience getting robbed in Cape Town.
The social media star claimed that her skydiving equipment, worth over R180 000, was stolen from her car boot.

On TikTok – where she has over six million followers – and almost half a billion likes, Salah Brooks detailed becoming a victim of crime in Cape Town.
The blonde-haired woman shared how valuable goods like her $10 000 (R180 000) skydiving equipment, her bag with bank cards and other personal items were stolen out of her car boot.
The incident took place while Brooks stopped at a local coffee shop.
“Don’t leave your car unlocked”, she warned her followers.
Brooks – who has been vacationing in South Africa for several weeks – added: “There’s nothing i can do about it…knee-jerk reaction is to leave. F**k Cape Town, I’m out of here…but I love this place.
In another video she posted: “Bad things happen to good people…it’s devastating, but things could be worse.
Brooks said she had “tracked” her valuables to “the township, outside of the airport”.
She added, “It’s not even worth trying to go get”.

SAFETY TIPS FOR TOURISTS
Cape Town Tourism has shared several safety tips for tourists to the city, especially in light of the festive season.
They include:
- Avoid carrying large sums of cash and visibly displaying valuables
- Never leave belongings unattended.
- Don’t walk alone at night, particularly in deserted and dark places. Park in well-lit areas.
- Never allow strangers to assist you at ATMs or cash points.
- Avoid giving money to beggars or street children. Donate to a registered charity instead.
- Keep travel documents in a safe place.
- When exploring tourist destinations like Table Mountain National Park, be sure to carry a fully charged mobile phone, stick to the demarcated paths, and head home before dark.
- Tell a friend where you are going and when you expect to be back.
