Arnett Gardens have an opportunity to climb into the top six of the Jamaica Premier League (JPL) but will face a tough task when they play away to Mount Pleasant in a rescheduled game at Drax Hall Sports Complex, today at 3 p.m.

The ‘Junglists’ started the campaign slowly but they have improved in recent weeks, with their losses to Chapelton and Mount Pleasant, the only blot on their record over the last seven matches.

Arnett are now on 23 points, four behind Mount Pleasant. The Philip Williams-coached team lost to Mount Pleasant only two matches ago but Williams thought they had the better of the chances and just didn’t take them.

Although playing away on this occasion, he said they are aiming for the three points.

“If you look back at the (Arnett, Mount Pleasant) about four chances were there, three of which fell to our players and we were not able to convert but the team put in a good shift against a very good Mount Pleasant team,” he said.

“The game had a lot of ups and downs. It’s about recovering from the loss and then trying to put in a good shift for the next game. We created chances, unfortunately we weren’t able to put away any of them. We need three points and we need to get them wherever we can,” he added.

After the narrow win over Arnett, Mount Pleasant fell to an improving Waterhouse, who claimed their first back-to-back wins this term.

Mount Pleasant themselves have an opportunity to reach the 30 points marker with a win, even though they would still remain fourth in the table. However, they would close the gap on third-place Portmore United to three points and second-place Racing United to five points.

Mount Pleasant coach Theodore Whitmore cited tactical indiscipline as the main reason for their defeat against Waterhouse and warned of changes to come.

“We prepared for the (Waterhouse) game but we just didn’t apply ourselves,” Whitmore said.

He added: “There are a lot of things that need to be done. We have a short turnaround time. There are some things we need to adjust and probably (make) some changes going into the game.”

In another match today Tivoli Gardens (26 points) can enter the top four with a win against lowly Treasure Beach (19). Tivoli surprised Cavalier 2-1 in their last match on Sunday and back-to-back victories could push them to fourth if Mount Pleasant fail to win today.
