Super Eagles attacker Emmanuel Dennis completed his move to Danish Superligaen side Brondby last week, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 28-year-old striker became a free agent last July after parting ways with Nottingham Forest by mutual consent, having been deemed surplus to requirements.

While he was linked with moves to Watford, Persepolis, and Celtic, nothing materialized until Brondby stepped in. The Danish giants officially confirmed the deal last week.

Dennis is now set to become the fifth Nigerian to represent the club. In this article, Soccernet.ng highlights the first four who donned the 2021 Superligaen champions’ jersey before him.

Soccer 1. Femi Ajilore

A former Nigerian youth international, Ajilore spent the bulk of his career in Denmark and the Netherlands. Beyond his time at Brondby, he featured for FC Groningen, FC Midtjylland, and Middelfart.

His stint at Brondby was brief.— a season-long loan before moving on. The midfielder, now 41, earned eight caps for the Super Eagles during his prime.

Soccer 2. Oke Akpoveta

Akpoveta is a journeyman striker who has spent most of his professional career across Scandinavian leagues. To date, the Superligaen side remains the most high-profile club on his resume.

The Warri-born attacker played for the likes of IK Frej, Lyngby, and Helsingborg, though he never received a senior call-up for the Nigerian national team.

Soccer 3. Uche Okechukwu

Nicknamed “The Gentle Giant,” Uche Okechukwu was a hero of Nigeria’s defense in the 1990s. Before his spells in Turkey with Fenerbahce and Istanbulspor, he made a significant impact in Denmark.

Okechukwu made 78 appearances for Brondby, remarkably contributing 13 goals and an assist from central defence. On the home front, he featured for Ocean Boys and Bayelsa United before retiring.

Soccer 4. Friday Elaho

Elaho is another household name in Nigerian football history who suited up for the 2021 Superligaen kings. Interestingly, the Danish side was his only port of call in European football.

After his time in Denmark, he moved to the Malaysian league to see out the remainder of his playing days. Elaho earned seven caps for the Super Eagles and was known for his flair on the wing.
