Nigerian entertainer and stand-up comedian Bovi Ugboma has reacted to the Super Eagles‘ AFCON 2025 semi-final loss to Morocco, Soccernet.ng reports.

The atmosphere at the Stade Prince Moulay Abdallah was intense, with the Moroccans hyping up the noise in the Stadium.

Eric Chelle’s men completed 120 minutes without conceding a goal before Deja vu hit again. Samuel Chukwueze and Bruno Onyemaechi were denied from twelve yards by Yassine Bounou.

Morocco will play against Senegal at the Stade Prince Moulay Abdallah on Sunday, with kick-off slated for 8:00 PM WAT.

Soccer Bovi reacts to Super Eagles’ loss against Morocco

The 46-year-old took to his Instagram page to record his honest thoughts on Nigeria’s loss, telling the players that football is more than just a sport for the nation.

“If there’s anything that unites Nigeria as a nation, it’s football.

“So, dear Super Eagles and intending Super Eagles players, regardless of how the NFF treats you, if you choose to play, understand that you have the potential, the power, the strength to unite Nigeria.

“Muslims, Christians, people from the North, West, East and South all unite whenever Nigeria plays, in case you don’t know.

“In our victorious moments, the nation forgets where anyone is from. You have to treat each game like an assassin.

“I’ve never seen in my life where an assassin has an opportunity to kill someone and be lackadaisical about it, while chewing gum.

“I forgive Chukwueze from the bottom of my heart, but you need to understand that the weight of a nation lies in your hands.

“If you go for glory before victory, more often than not, you’ll mess up, you’ll become the victim.

“Don’t chew gum or look at any cameras. You’re in enemy territory, you have to shoot, you have to strike.

“We let an advantage slip, but I’m not blaming only Chukwueze. In 1994, the team messed up with two minutes to go, but they’re still our heroes.

“You’ll hardly see any Nigerian claim their hero is a politician or a pastor, but so many will mention Okocha, Oliseh, and Ikpeba as Nigerian heroes because those memories have not been erased by greater achievements.

“If you’re not ready to die for the nation, don’t play for the Super Eagles. If you’re not Andrea Pirlo, don’t try the panenka, tear the net like Rashidi Yekini.

“We’re a footballing nation, you have chances to be heroes, don’t continue to soil it. I forgive you, but understand that what you’re doing by wearing the Nigerian jersey is beyond football.

Nigeria will play against Egypt at the Stade Mohammed V in Casablanca on Saturday. Kick off is slated for 5:00 PM WAT.
