Lagan boosts turnover thanks to aviation arm

Lagan boosted its turnover as growth in its international airports-focused businesses outstripped its activity elsewhere.

The Lagan Specialist Infrastructure Group, the parent of civils firms Lagan Aviation & Infrastructure Group and Charles Brand Group, saw its revenue reach £168.8m in the year to 31 March 2025, recently released accounts show.

This was up from £138.5m in the previous financial year.

Pre-tax profit at the Belfast-headquartered company reached £9.7m, up from £7.8m in 2024.

Separate filings show Lagan Aviation & Infrastructure was responsible for £113.8m of the latest revenue, jumping from just £66.2m in the preceding period.

However, the arm’s pre-tax profit did not grow anywhere near as much, hitting £6.6m, just up from £5.9m in 2024.

The business specialises in the construction and maintenance of airport and military infrastructure across the world.

Meanwhile, Charles Brand, which works across roads, water, marine and ground engineering sectors in the UK and Ireland, posted a turnover of £56.8m for the year to 31 March 2025, compared with £109.1m in the 18 months to 30 March 2024.

On an average basis, activity for the latest period amounted to £4.7m per month, down from £6.1m per month in its previous results.

Pre-tax profit nevertheless held steady with the arm posting £3.1m in 2025, up from £3m in the 18 months prior.

In September 2024, parent company Lagan Specialist Contracting Group Holdings renamed itself Lagan Specialist Infrastructure Group, Companies House records show.

Lagan Specialist chief executive Kevin Anthony Lagan said in a note with the results that the firm’s directors were “satisfied” with the performance.

“The business continues to have a robust order book based on its forecast turnover levels. The group […] remains confident that further work will be secured in line with the strategy being adopted,” he added.

According to its website, work carried out during 2024 and 2025 by Lagan Aviation and Infrastructure included the rehabilitation of Luton and Edinburgh airports’ runways, the build of 138 Ministry of Defence service-family houses at Dhekelia, Cyprus, and infrastructure work at Câmpia Turzii airport in Romania.

Charles Brand became one of the primary Lagan companies in the wake of the 2018 administration of Lagan Construction Group Holdings Ltd, Lagan Construction Group Ltd, Lagan Building Contractors Ltd and Lagan Water Ltd.
