A promotional render for the upcoming Baofeng Mini MK2 has leaked on Facebook, giving fans a sneak peek at the latest in Baofeng’s mini radio lineup. While it doesn’t give away too many details, fans will notice that some significant upgrades are in store.

Baofeng is expanding its mini radio line-up and building on the success of its UV-5R Mini with an upcoming release. Scheduled to launch in 2026, Baofeng fans got a sneak peek of the Baofeng Mini MK2 in a now-removed leaked image over on Facebook. Thankfully, YouTuber M0FXB captured the image before it was taken down and briefly discussed some of the device’s speculated features.

Bearing a striking resemblance to the UV-5R Mini, the Baofeng Mini MK2 will feature the same 999-channel capacity, a color LCD, and programability via Bluetooth, CHIRP, and Baofeng’s dedicated app. However, despite the similar form factor, the Mini MK2 has a more user-friendly button layout, and M0FXB speculates that there may be a GPS variant of the upcoming device based on clues found in the Baofeng app. Additionally, the Mini MK2 will maintain or improve on the UV-5R mini’s specs, with Airband support, a 1800 mAh battery, and dual-band transmission among its top features.

Notably, the render did not mention a price, but the UV-5R Mini is among the more budget-friendly options for radios of this size. Coming in at sub $50 prices, the Mini MK2 will likely take this pricing approach and land squarely in the price range of most radio enthusiasts. Curious enthusiasts can find more information on the radio and speculated features in the resources linked below.
