Super Eagles and Paris FC winger Moses Simon has reflected on Nigeria’s 2-1 win against Tanzania in their Group C AFCON opener, Soccernet.ng reports.

Eric Chelle’s men got off to a good start against Miguel Gamondi’s side, and finally got the breakthrough in the 36th minute after Semi Ajayi headed home from Alex Iwobi’s cross.

Tanzania came into the second half with guns blazing in the second half, as Charles M’Mombwa levelled the scores.

It didn’t take long before Nigeria regained the lead. Two minutes later, Iwobi turned provider again, setting Lookman up for his fourth AFCON goal.

Soccer Moses Simon weighs in on Super Eagles’ Tanzania victory

Moses Simon came on in the 59th minute to replace Samuel Chukwueze as Nigeria hung on to their slender win.

Although Eric Chelle’s men went home with all three points, it was done in a not-so-convincing fashion, raising questions about Nigeria’s inability to exert dominance on teams with supposedly lesser quality.

“Actually, football is not that easy. Not every team at the AFCON will be easy to beat. So, the fans should keep supporting us,” the former Levante winger told Victor Ademola in his post-match presser.

“The team performance was great. When you win, you always say Great, but when you lose, you think about it. The most important thing is the three points.

“We are used to handling the pressure; it is our job, and we know how to handle it best. I believe nobody is scared because we believe we can score more goals.

“The game against Tunisia is not going to be easy. Three points are on the line again; we can’t tell you if we’ll play a draw or lose, everyone wants to win, and we want to be there,” the 30-year-old concluded.
