Jamaica vs Trin. & Tob.

Sports Mole previews Tuesday’s World Cup Qualifying – North Central America clash between Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

For the second time this year, Jamaica will square off with Trinidad and Tobago, this time in World Cup 2026 qualifying at Independence Park in Kingston on Tuesday.

The Reggae Boyz lead the Group B standings following a convincing 4-0 triumph over Bermuda on matchday one, while Trinidad settled for a 0-0 draw with Curacao.

Match preview

It was a winning start to the final round of qualifying for the Jamaicans, who were in control of their opening fixture from nearly start to finish.

Friday was their biggest victory on the international stage since July 2023, when they hammered Saint Kitts and Nevis 5-0 at the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Steve McClaren’s men have won two of their previous three competitive fixtures and have found the back of the net in 12 of their last 13 international affairs dating back to November 2024.

A victory on Tuesday would equal their number of wins from the final stage of the previous World Cup qualification cycle (two) and mark the first time they will have won consecutive games in the last stage this century.

They are unbeaten in their last four World Cup qualifiers at Independence Park, winning both of their second-round affairs in this cycle without a single goal conceded.

Jamaica have won their previous two meetings against TNT, beating them 3-2 at the Unity Cup in May thanks to a last-gasp goal in the 94th minute.

For a third match in a row, Trinidad and Tobago avoided defeat, although their winless run now stands at five matches across all competitions.

Under the guidance of a former prolific goalscorer at Man United, Dwight Yorke’s side have struggled in the attacking third of late, netting a goal or fewer in six of their previous seven competitive games.

On the other hand, they are unbeaten in their last two matches played in the final round of CONCACAF qualifying, claiming their first away point in this phase since a 2-2 draw at El Salvador in February 2009.

Trinidad have not conceded an opening half goal in any of their previous three encounters and on Tuesday can earn points in their first two final phase qualifiers for the first time since the 2010 cycle.

In 2025, they have yet to lose a match when scoring a goal in the opening half, emerging victorious in three of those five occasions thus far.

Although the Soca Warriors have lost four of their previous six meetings with the Reggae Boyz, this team are unbeaten in their last three visits to Jamaica, claiming victory on two of those occasions.

On Friday, Bailey Cadamarteri collected his first senior cap for Jamaica, starting as the lone striker up top, while Ronaldo Webster came on for Tyreece Campbell to make his first international appearance in over three years.

Damion Lowe, Renaldo Cephas, Kasey Palmer and Shamar Nicholson all scored in the victory over Bermuda, with the latter now up to 20, the sixth-most in Reggae Boyz history.

As for TNT, Justin Obikwu, Jerrin Jackie and Kobi Henry all claimed their first caps with the senior squad, with the latter playing the full 90 minutes in central defence.

Denzil Smith stopped the only two Curacao efforts that he faced on Friday to collect a clean sheet, his first since a 4-0 win over Cuba in March.

Jamaica possible starting lineup:

Waite; Lembikisa, Pinnock, Lowe, Bell; Hayden; Campbell, Russell, Palmer, Cephas; Nicholson

Trinidad and Tobago possible starting lineup:

Smith; Cardines, Trimmingham, Henry, Powder; Sealy, James, Rampersad, Spicer; Garcia, Molino

We say: Jamaica 1-0- Trinidad and Tobago

Pitch conditions are rarely ideal in the Caribbean, but the Reggae Boyz squad depth should enable them to squeak out a victory against a side who are missing an x-factor in the attacking third.
