Heavy, twisted pop electronica…
26 · 09 · 2025
American duo crushed have shared their debut album ‘no scope’ in full.
The band have been working on the album for some time now, two musicians with different backgrounds and skills. Shaun Durkan used to front feted West Coast trio Weekend, while Bre Morell is known for her work with Texan project Temple Of Angels.
Signed to Ghostly International – one of our favourite labels, truth be told – crushed have been experimenting with different noises and sounds, unpacking their approach to pop at its most left-field.
Singles like ‘oneshot’ and ‘cwtch’ have followed, the sound of two people working on impulse, shelving the logical part of their brain to indulge their passions.
Out now, ‘no scope’ is fascinating – at times visceral and direct, at others outright pretty in its grasp of audio beauty, the ideas flash past like fireworks.
Tune in below.
