How Does iPhone 17 Strengthen Crypto Wallet Security?

The recent iPhone 17 has an impressive upgrade that will make crypto wallet security better than ever. It is excellent news for anyone who uses their phone for crypto activities.

With rising threats, Apple added a new feature to strengthen crypto wallet security and block app hijacking.

Introducing Memory Integrity Enforcement (MIE)

At the heart of this update is a feature called Memory Integrity Enforcement (MIE). It is a high-security tool, but one that is hardware-based. It is deep inside the iPhone itself to prevent attacks before they even begin.

Cobo’s founder states that the iPhone 17 features MIE hardware-level memory security, a major win for high-net-worth crypto users and frequent signers, enhancing the safety of wallet signing and Passkeys. It includes EMTE real-time validation and is enabled by default, blocking…

MIE uses a framework called Enhanced Memory Tagging Extension (EMTE). It blocks hazardous memory issues like out-of-bounds access and use-after-free errors. Hackers often exploit such flaws, especially in zero-day attacks. Cybersecurity firm Hacken says the upgrade cuts risks of wallet and Passkey hijacks. It’s especially valuable for frequent traders and high-net-worth users.

Why It Matters for Crypto Wallet Security

Memory corruption causes nearly 70% of software flaws, and MIE blocks these weaknesses. MIE is always-on, protecting both the phone’s kernel and user apps. It makes it much more complex and costlier for hackers to build spyware targeting crypto wallets.

RIP Jailbreak era
Beside that, Apple chaims they have a better branch prediction, hope they don’t do anything too hype that easy to crash their “pipeline”

It means a much safer environment for wallet apps and signing processes. But Hacken cautions that this feature is not an end-all solution. MIE can’t stop phishing, malicious apps, or links that steal personal data.

Ongoing Security Threats for Apple Users

The situation has been a grave threat to Apple users during the last year. Hackers exploited a zero-click vulnerability last month to compromise iPhones without user action. Kaspersky found app kits on the Play Store and App Store that scanned photos for wallet recovery phrases. Last year, Trust Wallet even urged users to turn off iMessage due to a high-risk zero-day exploit spreading on the Dark Web.

1/2: ⚠️ Alert for iOS users: We have credible intel regarding a high-risk zero-day exploit targeting iMessage on the Dark Web.

This can infiltrate your iPhone without clicking any link. High-value targets are likely. Each use raises detection risk. #CyberSecurity

The iPhone 17’s Memory Integrity Enforcement is a huge step forward for crypto wallet security, especially for frequent crypto users. It can’t stop all attacks, but it has made hacking very difficult. Still, caution is the most excellent protection.
