Georgia Teen Football Player Killed in Floyd County Crash After Practice

A Floyd County community is in mourning after 15-year-old Armuchee High School football player David Clemones was killed in a tragic crash this week.

According to authorities, Clemones was a passenger in a pickup truck driven by a 16-year-old teammate who was giving him a ride home from football practice. The accident happened shortly after 6 p.m. Tuesday on Calhoun Road near Georgia Loop 1, when the teen driver attempted to make a left turn and collided with another pickup truck.

Clemones and two others were rushed to Atrium Health Floyd Hospital, where doctors later pronounced Clemones dead. The conditions of the other two individuals have not yet been released. Police said the crash remains under investigation, and it is unclear if any charges will be filed.

The heartbreaking news has left Armuchee High School stunned. Counselors have been made available on campus to support students, teammates, and staff as they grieve the sudden loss of Clemones.
