California’s Gov. Gavin Newsom hasn’t officially announced a campaign for president in 2028, but he sure acts like a guy who wants the job despite his record of extremism and failure in the Golden State. He recently toured churches and community centers in the early primary state of South Carolina, preferring to glad-hand prospective supporters on the other side of the country rather than doing his job in Sacramento.
Appearing Monday on the “Shawn Ryan Show,” the famously coiffed governor sounded nothing like the man who has been pushing extremist gender ideology on his state’s residents for years:
For more than four hours the supremely self-assured governor of California held court, waxing lyrical about his policies, beliefs and vision.
Then came the simple yes or no question which stumped him. Should eight-year-old children be given medical treatments to change their biological sex?
‘Now that I have a nine-year-old, just became nine, come on man…’ said Gavin Newsom, squirming slightly as he spoke. Podcaster Shawn Ryan let Newsom continue.
‘I get it,’ insisted Newsom, leaving unspoken what the ‘it’ was that he ‘got.’
He may claim he “gets it,” but he has a long track record that proves otherwise. He also rambles in a positively Kamala-like manner as he strings together a bunch of words that add up to nothing:
“Yeah. I mean, look, now that I have a nine-year-old—it just became 9—come on, man… I get it, so those are legit, you know. It’s interesting, the issue of age. What does this even mean?
‘So those are legit… You know, it’s interesting, the issue of age, I haven’t…’ He then switched to laughing about his clumsy efforts to use a person’s preferred pronouns and spoke about how he was mocked by his Hispanic staff for trying to use the woke word ‘Latinx.’
Perhaps what he now gets is that all his stances have been wrong, anti-parent and immoral. Funny how your “evolution” is occurring now that you’re facing the unemployment line in November 2026, when you will be termed out. Also funny how he says these things on podcasts but has done nothing to change course.
We have the receipts, Governor:
In October 2021, he ‘proudly’ signed into law the ‘profoundly important’ AB 1184, which allows children as young as 12 to be treated with cross-sex hormones or puberty blockers without parental consent. Only sexual reassignment surgery is restricted.
In September 2022 he declared California a ‘sanctuary state’ for trans kids, ensuring they can receive hormone therapy and puberty blockers which are forbidden in their home states, and shielding them and their families from prosecution.
And in July last year he signed AB 1955 into law, legally preventing teachers from ‘outing’ trans children to their parents. Elon Musk, whose estranged daughter Vivian, 21, is trans, called the bill ‘the final straw’ in his decision to relocate SpaceX’s headquarters from California to Texas.

Newsom is so infuriating to California Republicans—and yes, even though we’re outnumbered, there are actually millions of us—because we’ve seen who he is, we’ve seen his vision, and we’ve witnessed just how destructive he can be if given power. For him to now, in the name of political expedience, pretend to be someone he is not now nor has ever been is particularly galling.
Don’t fall for it, America.
