MUMBAI: Regional carrier Star Air recently announced plans for expansion of its network from Belagavi in April and May. The airline added it also has plans to upgrade its product with an advanced Embraer E175 aircraft, featuring a business-class cabin on select routes. In May, Belagavi – Mumbai – Kolhapur and return services will be upgraded to the Embraer E175 aircraft, enhancing passenger comfort and capacity, the airline said in a press statement.Additionally, the following service enhancements are set to take place: Belagavi (IXG) – Jaipur (JAI) – Belagavi (IXG) operations will continue under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS), offering affordable and seamless travel.
Bengaluru (BLR) – Belagavi (IXG) – Bengaluru (BLR) service will resume from mid-April, reconnecting Belagavi with Bengaluru, a key business and tourism hub. Belagavi (IXG) – Pune (PNQ) – Belagavi (IXG) flights are likely to commence in mid-April.
Belagavi (IXG) – Hyderabad (HYD) – Belagavi (IXG) flights will be launched in mid-May, linking Belagavi with Hyderabad, a significant business and technology centre.

The introduction of the Embraer E175 is a significant milestone in our journey. These new routes will enhance connectivity for business and leisure travellers alike, fostering regional growth and economic opportunities.
”Star Air, the aviation arm of the Sanjay Ghodawat Group (SGG), commenced its commercial operations in 2019 with a mission to “Connect Real India” by making air travel affordable and convenient for the Indian populace. Since its inception, it has flown over than 1.3 million flyers across 23 destinations in India. Currently, Star Air operates a fleet of nine aircraft, including four Embraer E175s and five Embraer E145s, and is looking to expand the fleet to 25 aircraft in the next 36 months.
Enhanced connectivity will help bolster tourism and trade in the region and contribute to the economic development of the states, the airline said in a press statment.Meanwhile government-owned Alliance Air too has added routes to its regional network. Alliance Air expanded connectivity in western India by commencing its route Mumbai-Amravati-Mumbai on 16 April. This will be an RCS flight, operated with ATR72-600 turbo prop aircraft.
The flights will operate from Amravati to Mumbai on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays( from Mumbai: 2:30 PM (departure), 4:20 PM (arrival at Amravati). From Amravati: 4:50 PM (departure), 6:35 PM (arrival at Mumbai).The inaugural flight was flagged off by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Hon’ble Minister of Civil Aviation Shri K. Ram Mohan Naidu, and dignitaries from the govt of Maharashtra and Ministry of Civil Aviation.
