The shortlist for the 2025 Inspiring Women in Construction and Engineering (IWCE) Awards has been unveiled, with Atkins Réalis, Gallaway Construction, Mott MacDonald and Winvic featuring prominently across multiple categories.
Now in its fourth year, the IWCE Awards celebrate individuals, organisations and initiatives that are helping to drive inclusion and equality across the construction and engineering sectors.
The 2025 shortlist was revealed last week, following a record-breaking 450 entries submitted earlier this year.
Atkins Réalis, Gallaway Construction, Mott MacDonald, and Winvic emerged as frontrunners, demonstrating a strong presence across both individual and organisation award categories. Other frequently shortlisted companies include Arcadis, Balfour Beatty and Willmott Dixon.
Familiar names such as Aecom, Arup, Coffey Geotechnics, Fugro, Jomas Associates and Geoquip Marine also feature among the finalists.
This year’s awards cover 21 categories, including Inspirational Leader (client, consultant, contractor and supplier), Technical Excellence, Allyship Champion of the Year and Company of the Year, as well as categories focused on outreach, mental health and wellbeing, and early-career recognition such as Rising Star.
A panel of more than 70 independent judges from across construction, civil engineering and ground engineering reviewed the hundreds of submissions.
Construction News editor Colin Marrs said: “This event goes from strength to strength.
“There is nothing quite like this event, which gathers women and male allies to celebrate the best work being done on this agenda.”
This year’s IWCE programme began in March with a webinar titled ‘Changing culture – Building inclusive and safe workplaces in construction’.
Shortlisted entrants will now be invited to a learning and development workshop on 3 July at the Hilton London Bankside.
The final stage of judging will take place this summer, ahead of the IWCE Conference & Awards, which will be held at Royal Lancaster London on 16 September.
The IWCE events series is jointly organised by Construction News, Ground Engineering and New Civil Engineer.
The full shortlist is available to view on the IWCE website.
