Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has teased a move for Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres following reports that United were set to rival Arsenal for his signature.

Gyokeres has been on United’s transfer shortlist since Ruben Amorim left Sporting and moved to Old Trafford in November. Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have both struggled for form this season and United are expected to act in the market.

The Sweden international has scored 96 goals for Sporting in his two seasons at the club and is expected to seal a big-money move away from the club now their Portugal Premier Division title is wrapped up.

Arsenal are also pursuing a move for the former Coventry City man with Mikel Arteta desperate for a new centre-forward. Recently, it was suggested that the Gunners were in pole position to sign the striker, but according to talkSPORT, United are preparing to rival their Premier League opponents.

It is claimed that a £58.9million agreement has been reached between Arsenal and Sporting, but United are set to do their best to get the deal over the line.

Now, in the aftermath of Sporting’s title celebrations over the weekend, Fernandes has sparked excitement among United supporters with his activity on social media. The Portuguese, who reportedly started following the Swede on Instagram recently, liked Gyokeres’ post on the platform.

Posting nine pictures of the celebrations in Lisbon, Gyokeres wrote: “First time was so nice we had to do it twice *two trophy emojis*.”

Gyokeres’ Sporting teammate Eduardo Quaresma commented: “We go for the tri? *eyes emoji*,” while fellow defender added: “Thank you brother *green red-heart emoji*.”
