Soccer “Who cares” – Jay-Jay Okocha reacts to PSG’s Champions League win over Inter Milan

Former Super Eagles and Paris Saint-Germain attacking midfielder, Austin Jay-Jay Okocha, was delighted that his former side won the UEFA Champions League against Inter Milan last night, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 51-year-old, in his time at the Parc des Princes, played 113 games, scoring 20 goals and providing nine assists.

Okocha was on the sidelines at the Allianz Arena yesterday as his former side lifted their first-ever UEFA Champions League title with a thumping 5-0 scoreline, courtesy of a brace from Desire Doue, and then goals from Achraf Hakimi, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Senny Mayulu.

Speaking in an interview with TNT Sports, the one-time AFCON winner was pleased with how his side secured their first-ever treble.

“It’s amazing, and the way they did it, they made it look so easy. They came with a good game plan, it worked out for them, and they totally deserved it.

“I didn’t think it would be 5-nil, I predicted 2-1, but who cares? I wanted to see them win, and they won. It’s great for the club, the first time in their history, and I think it’s good for football as well,” the former Frankfurt midfielder said.

Desire Doue, Ousmane Dembele, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia are the mavericks of Luis Enrique’s side because of their skills and trickery. Former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand, asked Okocha if their skills made a difference, considering he was a wizard in his playing days.

“The skills were the difference, they used their individual talent for the team. They held the ball very well, and they made Inter suffer a bit. I think it’s down to their ability to do something with the ball.”

Owen Hargreaves asked Okocha if he’d play in the team’s current front three, considering how much they press without the ball, and the Olympic gold medallist said;

“If I were to play in this front three, I’d have no choice but to press like that. When you’re around great players, they make you look good.

“The pressing was incredible, but the hard work is in the mind. If everything is working out well, you don’t mind going an extra mile for the team, and that’s what they did.”

Liverpool legend, Steven Gerard, asked the former Super Eagles captain about his opinion on PSG’s manager, Luis Henrique.

“I think he made us realise football is a team game. No matter how good you are, if you’re not playing for the team, you can’t win anything, and they just justified that,” Okocha concluded.
