Eric Chelle sounds note of warning to Jamaica ahead of Unity Cup final

Head coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Eric Sekhou Chelle, has sent a note of warning to Jamaica ahead of the 2025 Unity Cup final showdown, Soccernet.ng reports.

The three-time AFCON winners sealed a 2-1 win over Otto Addo’s Ghana at the Gtech Community Stadium last night, thanks to a goal from Cyriel Dessers and Semi Ajayi’s deflected attempted.

Nigeria will now face Jamaica in the final and Eric Chelle has made it clear they’ll be no room for jibes from his side on Saturday.

“We just played a game, so we will try to prepare for the second game, but we’re in the final, so we want to win, but the reality is Jamaica have a great team, with great staff, and great players.”

“It’ll be a great game, so we’ll focus on the two or three training sessions we have and we’ll see what happens after,” the Frenchman said in his post-match conference.

Quizzed about the preferred style of play he’ll love to see his team emulate, the former Mali coach said;

“My philosophy is to play high pressure games, but the system is very difficult for the players. My dream is that I want my team to be intense for 90 minutes, but I think it’s impossible, so we need to work and improve.”

“Like I said, the reality is since I’ve been coach of this team, I’ve had maybe seven training sessions, and we’ve played two games, two wins and a draw, so, to improve we need to work.”

“The players need to know what I want and I think we played a great first half against Ghana but in the second half they were tired, but I’m so proud of them because they fought,” Eric Chelle concluded.
