Super Cyriel Dessers helps Rangers seal big comeback win over Dundee United

Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers spearheaded Rangers’ comeback, as they went from a goal down to defeat Dundee United 3-1 at the Ibrox Stadium, Soccernet.ng reports.

Rangers returned to Scottish Premiership action with a game against Dundee United on Wednesday, and Nigerian striker Dessers kept his place as the focal point of the attack.

The Gers were the favorites to win the game due to the gulf in quality on paper. Moreover, they won they had won four of the previous five meetings.

However, the Glasgow giants fell behind in the 20th minute after Samuel Cleall-Harding scored for Dundee United. But just five minutes later, Rangers struck, and it was through Dessers.

The Super Eagles star showed how deadly he can be on his day, latching onto a cross from Jefte and sending a wicked header into the top-right corner to make it 1-1.

Both teams took the draw into the break, and Rangers came out for the second half all guns blazing. But it took them until the 72nd minute before they got something.

Rangers won a penalty in the 72nd minute, and Dessers took charge of the penalty. He made no mistake from the spot, as he fired home to make it 2-1 after 73 minutes.

Then, Nicolas Raskin added the third just two minutes later to seal the 3-1 win for Rangers.

Cyriel Dessers’ brace against Dundee United has taken him up to 50 goals in 108 appearances for Rangers. The Super Eagles star also has 16 assists to his name.

Dessers will look to keep producing the goals for Rangers and help them challenge for silverware next season.
