Nigerian international and Bayer Leverkusen forward Victor Boniface has reportedly caught the attention of English Premier League side Newcastle United, Soccernet.ng reports.

Per Africa Foot, the 2024-25 Carabao Cup winners are stepping up efforts to secure the signature of the former Union Saint-Gilloise forward ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Further reports suggest the Magpies have been in talks for several weeks with both Boniface’s representatives and Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen over a potential move.

Boniface’s goal-scoring ability has piqued the interest of several European clubs over the last season, making him one of the most sought-after forwards in Europe.

To add to the list of clubs vying for his signature, Newcastle are eager to reinforce their attack as they edge closer to sealing a UCL spot—sitting third—in the current campaign.

With several clubs reportedly monitoring his situation, Leverkusen may face a tough battle to keep the 24-year-old in Germany beyond this summer.

Should the deal materialise, Boniface would become the latest Nigerian to feature in England’s top flight, following in the footsteps of the likes of Taiwo Awoniyi, Calvin Bassey and a host of others .
