India’s WAVES Bazaar Emerges as Cross-Sector Digital Marketplace for Global Entertainment Industry

Entertainment

India has established WAVES Bazaar, an expansive digital marketplace that aims to break down traditional industry silos and connect professionals across the entire media and entertainment spectrum.

The platform, operating at wavesbazaar.com, aims to function as a comprehensive business hub where entertainment professionals can “network, collaborate and grow their businesses” regardless of geographic location or specific industry segment.

The digital marketplace serves as a precursor to the World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES), scheduled for May 1-4, 2025, in Mumbai, where many of the virtual connections made through the platform are expected to transform into face-to-face business relationships.

Unlike narrowly focused industry platforms, WAVES Bazaar spans 10 distinct entertainment sectors, creating what organizers describe as “a unified space for film, television, music, gaming, animation, advertising, and emerging tech sectors like XR, AR, and VR.”

Film producers can connect with distributors and investors, gaming developers can find animation partners, advertisers can discover media opportunities, and XR innovators can showcase their technologies to potential clients — all within a single ecosystem designed to foster cross-sector collaboration.

“Whether you’re a filmmaker searching for a production partner, an advertiser seeking the right platform, a game developer looking for investors, or an artist wanting to showcase your work to global audiences, WAVES Bazaar provides a dynamic space for industry professionals,” states the platform’s mission.

The marketplace is structured into vertical-specific segments that include dedicated spaces for advertising services, live events, animation and VFX, extended reality technologies, film projects, game development, radio and podcasting, comics and e-books, web series, and music and sound design.

The platform arrives as entertainment businesses increasingly seek fluid partnerships across previously separate sectors. The convergence of gaming and film, extended reality and advertising, and podcasting and traditional media has created demand for exactly the type of cross-sector networking WAVES Bazaar aims to facilitate.

The platform’s launch is particularly significant for independent creators and smaller studios seeking global visibility without the substantial travel and marketing budgets traditionally required for international business development.

For India’s entertainment sector — one of the world’s largest by volume — WAVES Bazaar represents an infrastructure investment that could potentially amplify the country’s position in content creation, intellectual property development, and technological innovation.

With the backing of government ministries including Information & Broadcasting, and Electronics & Information Technology, and Culture & Tourism, the platform demonstrates India’s commitment to developing digital infrastructure for its creative industries while simultaneously opening doors to global collaboration.

Industry participants can register on the platform as buyers, sellers, or investors, creating profiles that showcase their expertise or requirements and initiating business relationships that span traditional industry boundaries and international borders.
