Inter Miami and Philadelphia Union will lock horns with each other in Major League Soccer this weekend. The match between Javier Mascherano’s side and Bradley Carnell’s team will be held at the Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and is scheduled to kick off at 11:30pm UK time on Saturday.

Inter Miami

Inter Miami were formed only seven years ago, but the David Beckham-owned club have become arguably the most well-known team in Major League Soccer. Not only do they have the former Manchester United, Real Madrid and England international midfielder Beckham as their owners, but they also have world stars such as Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi in their team.

The Herons did well last season. In the 2024 Major League Soccer campaign, Inter won the Eastern Conference (MLS). Inter are currently second in the league table with 10 points from four matches, level on points with second-placed Charlotte and leaders, Philadelphia Union, but it must be noted that Javier Mascherano’s side have a game in hand.

Inter will head into the Major League Soccer game against the Philadelphia Union at the Chase Stadium this weekend on the back of a 2-1 victory over Atlanta United away from home in the league. It came after a 2-0 victory over Cavalier SC in the second leg of their Concacaf Champions Cup tie which followed a 1-0 home win against Charlotte FC in MLS.

Team News:

Inter Miami are likely to line up in a 4-4-2 formation against the Philadelphia Union. Rocco Rios Novo will be in goal for the home team. Gonzalo Lujan, Maximiliano Falcon, Noah Allen and Jordi Alba will be the four defenders. Tadeo Allende, Yannick Bright, Sergio Busquets and Telasco Segovia will be the four midfielders. Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez will lead the line for Inter.

Philadelphia Union

The Philadelphia Union are a major club in Major League Soccer who did not have a great 2024 campaign. The U ended up 12th in the Eastern Conference (MLS) table and did not qualify for the playoffs.

Things are looking much more promising for the Union at the moment. Bradley Carnell’s side are at the top of the MLS Eastern Conference table at the moment with 12 points from five matches, two points ahead of the chasing pace.

The Union will head into their Major League Soccer match against Inter in Miami on the back of a 1-0 victory over St Louis City at home in the league. It came after a 3-1 defeat to Nashville in front of their fans in MLS which followed a 2-0 victory over the New England Revolution away from home in the league.

Team News:

The Philadelphia Union are likely to line up in a 4-4-2 formation against Inter Miami. Andrew Rick will be in goal for the visiting team. Olivier Mbaizo, Jakob Glesnes, Ivan Glavinovich and Kai Wagner will be the four defenders. Nathan Harriel, Jovan Lukic, Indiana Vassilev and Quinn Sullivan will be the four midfielders. Mikkel Uhre and Bruno Damiani will be the two centre-forwards.

Key Factors to Consider

  • Inter Miami have won their last 3 Major League Soccer matches.
  • Inter Miami have scored 9 goals in 4 Major League Soccer matches this campaign.
  • Inter Miami have conceded 4 goals in 4 Major League Soccer matches this campaign.
  • Philadelphia Union have scored 12 goals in 5 Major League Soccer games this season.
  • Philadelphia Union have conceded 6 goals in 5 Major League Soccer games this season.

Conclusion

Both Inter Miami and Philadelphia Union are doing well in Major League Soccer at the moment, and the MLS game between the two sides promises to be hugely competitive and very exciting. Although Inter will have the home advantage, it is very likely that this particular match will end in a draw.
