Why Liverpool would rather sign Ademola Lookman instead of Hugo Ekitike or Isak

Soccer

English Premier League club Liverpool would rather sign Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman rather than Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike or Newcastle’s Alexander Isak due to the Nigerian’s relatively lower price tag, Soccernet.ng reports.

Lookman has been heavily linked with Liverpool in recent months following his impressive performances for Atalanta that has seen him produce 50 goals and 22 assists in 109 appearances. The Reds are looking to bolster their squad as talisman Mohamed Salah could leave when his contract expires at the end of the season.

However, aside from Lookman, Liverpool have also been linked to other top players like Ekititke, who has been on fire at Frankfurt and Isak, who has been sublime for Newcastle over the last two seasons.

But according to Football Italia, Liverpool have placed Lookman at the top of their list due to his relatively cheaper price tag. Isak would cost around 150 million euros, while Ekitike would cost at least 70 million euros.

Ademola Lookman remains an option for Liverpool ahead of the summer transfer window, especially given his price tag compared to the likes of Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike. https://t.co/IA02WYDuGb #Lookman #Atalanta #LFC #Liverpool #Transfers #SerieA

Lookman, on the other hand, would cost the Reds around 60 million euros, and this is an enticing offer for them as they are shrewd spenders. As such, they would try to sign him first.

Ademola Lookman looks set to leave Atalanta in the summer transfer window as his contract is set to expire next season. La Dea would be willing to let him leave as they do not want to lose him in a free transfer.

Last summer, he nearly joined PSG, but the deal fell through in the end. Now that the Paris giants have sealed the signature of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, they do not need to sign another winger. Opening the door for other clubs to pounce.

Lookman has had multiple stints in the Premier League, but he failed to impress much. He would want to go back there to prove his mettle once more.

Nonetheless, Liverpool still have a lot of work to do as other clubs like Bayern Munich, Chelsea, and Manchester United are also monitoring his situation and could swoop in.
