Report: Eagles QB coach Doug Nussmeier finalizing deal to become Saints’ offensive coordinator – Bleeding Green Nation

Football

Philadelphia Eagles quarterbacks coach Doug Nussmeier and the New Orleans Saints are “working to finalize a deal” to have him become the offensive coordinator on Kellen Moore’s coaching staff, according to a report from Josina Anderson.

Earlier on Tuesday, Saints reporter Nick Underhill noted that it “sounds like Doug Nussmeier is the favorite to be the Saints offensive coordinator, I’m told. Not done yet, but things are moving in that direction.”

Nussmeier to New Orleans has basically been expected ever since the Saints hired Moore. The two have been working on the same coaching staffs together dating back to the 2018 season. It was no shock when it was reported that Nussmeier was interviewing for the OC opening.

Two big takeaways from Nussmeier’s departure:

  • The Eagles will need a new QB coach. There doesn’t appear an obvious in-house replacement for that role.
  • The Eagles will not be losing Eagles running backs coach/assistant head coach Jemal Singleton to the Saints. He also interviewed for New Orleans’ OC opening.

So far, Nussmeier and Eagles run game specialist/assistant offensive line T.J. Paganetti are leaving Philly to join the Saints. It’s possible more will follow Moore.
