Super Falcons’ and Al-Ittihad Ladies defender, Ashleigh Megan Plumptre, has penned a two-year contract extension with her club side in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 26-year-old versatile defender joined the Saudi-based club after her contract with WSL side, Leicester City women, expired in the summer of 2023.
Plumptre played all four games for the Nigerian national team at the Australia/ New Zealand FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2023, before making a move to the Middle East. Sixteen months later, she’s extended her stay in Saudi Arabia.

In a social media post, made by the Al-Ittihad ladies official account, the club announced the extension of the Nigerian’s stay.
“Al-Ittihad Club announces the renewal of the contract of the first women’s team player, Nigerian international Ashley Plumptre, for two years.
“The club’s CEO, Mr. Domingos Oliveira, confirmed that renewing the player’s contract comes within the club’s strategy to retain distinguished players who have the desire to develop and serve the team better in the future, wishing Ashley Plumptre and her teammates success and to make the fans happy by achieving accomplishments,” the club posted on their official X page.

Plumptre played an integral part in leading the Super Falcons to a place at the Olympics for the first time in sixteen years last year, but missed the eventual showdown due to a surgery which kept her out of action.
